“I have understood your intentions,” she said.
“Oh? And what do you think my intentions are?” he asked.
“You just want to ruin my reputation, that’s all.”
He stared at her for a long time. He was so angry that he felt like throwing her out of the window. But when he spoke, his voice was cold and quiet.
“So, you think I am trying to ruin your reputation?”
“Why else would you stop me on the road like this? Are you my brother? Why are you sitting alone with me in this car? The driver will tell everyone. Even if he doesn’t, he has lost respect for me in his heart. This is your way of taking revenge for the Islamabad incident, isn’t it?”
“Oh… so you think I am here to take revenge?”
“What else could it be? First, you call me every day, make me used to you, and then you demand to meet. And like a fool, I fell into this trap.”

He raised his voice too. “I am not a stranger to you, nor am I someone you cannot be with (Na-mehram). You know this. Why are you talking such nonsense?”
“If that is true, then instead of hiding like a thief, why don’t you admit it in front of the whole world?”
“When the time comes, I will do that too.”
“Then come to meet me only when that time comes. Right now, you can leave.”
“Don’t you trust me?” he asked.
“Men are not worth trusting. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing,” she said, her voice filled with hatred.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her toward him. She bumped into him like a weightless object. She was shocked and terrified, unable to speak. He looked coldly into her eyes and said, “Should I understand that some past experience has made you hate all men?”
Tashfa was stunned. How could he say that?
“You should be ashamed of using such cheap words,” she said.
“I can’t feel shame because I am shameless. This is the second time today you have openly shown your hatred for me, and I am sitting here, just listening.”
She freed herself from his grip and said through gritted teeth, “I told you, don’t touch me.”
“Be careful when you give me orders,” he replied. “In my life, I have done everything with complete stubbornness that I was forbidden to do.”

وہ کتنے پل اُس کی شکل ہی دیکھتا گیا۔ اندر اس قدر اشتعال اُٹھ رہا تھا۔ کہ ایک پل میں تاشفہ کو اُٹھا کر کھڑکی سے باہر پھینک دے۔
جب بولا تو لہجہ دھیما اور اندازِ سرد تھا۔
”تو تمہیں لگتا ہے۔ میں تمہیں بدنام کرنا چاہ رہا ہوں؟۔۔۔“
”آخر اس طرح راستے میں روک کر ملنے کا اور کیا مقصد ہے؟۔ کیا آپ میرے ماں جائے ہیں؟ جو یوں اکیلے تنہا میرے ساتھ گاڑی میں موجود ہیں۔ وہ ڈرائیور سب کو جا کر بتائے گا۔ کسی کو نہ بھی بتائے تب بھی اُس کے دل سے میری عزت تو جاتی رہی ناں۔ اسلام آباد والی بات کا اچھا بدلہ لیا ہے۔“
”اچھا۔۔۔!! تو کیا میں یہاں تم سے بدلہ لینے آیا ہوں؟۔“
”تو اور کس لیے آئے ہیں؟“
پہلے ہر روز لڑکی سے فون پر بات کرو۔۔۔ اپنا عادی بناؤ پھر ملنے کا مطالبہ کرو۔ اور میں پاگلوں کی طرح اس سازش کا شکار ہو گئی۔“
وہ اپنا غصہ ضبط کر گیا۔ اور بڑے تحمل کے ساتھ اگلی سیٹ چھوڑ کر پیچھے اُس کے برابر پھیل کر بیٹھتے ہوئے آنکھوں میں آنکھیں ڈال کر بولا۔
”ہاں اب بولو کیا کہہ رہی تھیں؟۔۔۔“
تاشفہ کا ہاتھ لاک کی جانب بڑھا ہی تھا۔ جب دوسرے فریق نے اپنے ہاتھ میں پکڑے ریموٹ سے گاڑی اندر سے لاک کر دی۔
اُس کے اور اپنے درمیان فاصلہ پیدا کرنے کے چکر میں تاشفہ کی پشت دروازے سے جا لگی۔
”اگر آپ نے مجھے ہاتھ بھی لگایا ناں تو میں آپ کا منہ نوچ لو گی۔۔۔“
لہجہ کانپتا ہوا ہی سہی مگر اندازِ دو ٹوک تھا۔ جواب میں سامنے والا سنجیدگی سے اُس کی آنکھوں میں دیکھتے ہوئے بولا۔ ”دونوں دفعہ ہی میں تمہیں چھونے کی نیت کر کے نہیں آیا تھا۔ یہ تم ہی ہو جو مجھے اپنی طرف کھینچتی ہو۔“
”میں نہیں بُرائی آپ کو اپنی طرف کھینچتی ہے۔ ورنہ آپ کبھی بھی ایک اجنبی لڑکی سے تنہائی ملاقات کے متمنی نہ ہوتے۔۔۔“ اس دفعہ وہ بولا تو آواز بلند تھی۔
”نہ میں تمہارا اجنبی ہوں۔ نہ ہی نامحرم ہوں۔ یہ بات تم بھی جانتی ہو۔ پھر کیوں یہ فضول بکواس کئے جا رہی ہو۔“
”اگر یہ بات ہے۔ تو چوروں کی طرح تنہائی میں بیٹھ کر بولنے کی بجائے۔ ساری دنیا کے سامنے اقرار کریں۔“
”جب وقت آئے گا۔ وہ بھی کر لوں گا۔“
”پھر جب ہی مجھے ملنے آئیے گا۔ ابھی آپ جا سکتے ہیں۔“
”کیا تمہیں مجھ پر اعتبار نہیں ہے؟۔۔۔“
”مرد ذات اعتبار کے قابل نہیں ہوتی۔ بھیڑیے کی کھال میں بھیڑیے ہوتے ہیں۔“
تاشفہ کی آواز میں نفرت ہی نفرت تھی۔
سامنے والے نے اُس کا ہاتھ پکڑ کر اپنی جانب کھینچا۔ وہ کسی بے جان و وزن چیز کی طرح اُس کے ساتھ ٹکرائی۔ اس اچانک حملے پر آنکھیں حیرت و خوف کی زیادتی سے مزید پھیل گئیں۔ زبان گنگ رہ گئی۔
جبکہ وہ اُس کی نگاہوں میں سرد مہری سے دیکھتے ہوئے بولا۔۔۔
”کیا میں یہ سمجھوں کسی سابقہ تجربے نے مرد ذات سے نفرت کروا دی؟۔۔۔“
تاشفہ شاک رہ گئی۔ وہ کیا بول گیا تھا۔
”آپ کو شرم آنی چاہیے ایسے گھٹیا الفاظ کا استعمال کر رہے ہیں۔“
”نہیں شرم کر سکتا ہوں۔ کیونکہ انتہائی بے غیرت واقع ہوا ہوں۔ آج دوسری دفعہ تم مجھ سے اپنی نفرت اور بیزاری کا اظہار علی الاعلان کر رہی ہو۔ اور میں مزے سے بیٹھا بس سُن رہا ہوں۔“
اُس کی گرفت سے اپنا آپ آزاد کرواتے ہوئے وہ دانت پیستے ہوئے بولی۔
”میں نے آپ کو کہا تھا۔ مجھے ہاتھ مت لگائیے۔“
”مجھ پر حکم چلاتے ہوئے احتیاط سے کام لو۔ میں نے زندگی میں ہر وہ کام پوری ضد کے ساتھ کیا ہے۔ جس سے مجھے منع کیا گیا ہو۔“
