”Making tea? That’s a big deal. Dadi used to say you don’t even like to get up and pour a glass of water for yourself…” Hearing Wali’s sarcastic remark from behind while she was busy making tea, she smiled bitterly.
It had been a week since Wali had arrived here, but he hadn’t seen Noray smile or laugh once. Yet, seeing her smile now, he felt that her smile was hollow.
He was seriously watching her smiling lips, but her eyes—cast down as she brewed the tea—were filled with unshed tears, which Wali failed to notice…
”Noray…!”
Wali called out, a deep longing wrapped in his voice. Noray’s heart hammered furiously against her ribs, and her pink lips trembled.
”Noor!”
“Why are you doing this? Why are you acting as if you don’t even know me…?” Speaking softly, he wrapped his arms around her in an embrace, pressing Noray’s back firmly against his chest.
Noray’s entire body went numb. Wali’s touch left her completely disoriented; she could neither resist nor find her voice.

ولی نے پکارا اسکی پکار میں ایک تڑپ تھی نورے کا دل زور زور سے دھڑکنے لگا گلابی لب لرز رہے تھے ۔۔۔
نور ! “کیوں کر رہی ہو ایسا کیوں ایسا شو کر رہی ہو کہ مجھے جانتی ہی نہیں۔۔۔” وہ نرمی سے بولتا اسکے گرد حصار باند گیا نورے کی پشت ولی کے سینے سے الگی تھی ۔۔۔
نورے کا پورا وجود گویا سن ہوگیا تھا ولی کا چھونا اسے حواس باختہ کر گیا تھا وہ نہ مزاحمت کر پارہی تھی نہ بول پا رہی تھی ۔۔۔
“تم کیوں نہیں بولتی مجھ سے کیوں نہیں پہلے کی طرح مجھے دیکھ کر خوش ہوتی کیوں نہیں ہنستی کیوں نہیں مسکراتی؟” وہ اسے اپنے سامنے کرتا پہلے نرمی پھر یکدم سختی سے بولا تھا ۔۔۔
نورے نم آنکھوں سے اسے دیکھے گئی ولی اسکی آنکھوں کا خالی پن دیکھ کر ساکت ہوا تھا ۔۔۔
“کیوں میرے قریب اتے ہیں جان کیوں نہیں چھوڑ دیتے میری ؟” وہ اس کے سینے پر زور سے دونوں ہاتھ مارتی روتے ہوۓ بولی ۔۔
ولی غصے سے سرخ ہوتا اسکا جبڑا دبوچ گیا چائے ابل کر باہر گرنے لگی لیکن وہ دونوں اپنی جنگ میں الجھے ہوئے تھے ۔
“میری بات کان کھول کر سنو تمہارا مجھ سے پیچھا تو کبھی چھوٹ نہیں سکتا اپنے دماغ میں یہ بات بٹھا لو۔۔”
اور اگر میں مر گئی پھر ؟”
نورے سلیب سے لگی بهیگی آنکھوں سے بولی ولی کو گویا سانپ سونگھ گیا تھا دل دھڑکنا بھولا تھا وہ ساکت بس نورے کو دیکھتا رہا ۔۔۔
“تم اپنی زبان پر قابو کر لو ورنہ مجھ سے برا کوئی نہیں ہوگا میں نہیں چاہتا میں جاہل مردوں کی طرح تم پر ہاتھ اٹھاؤں ۔۔۔۔۔”
وہ سخت لہجے میں باور کرواتا اسے چپ کرا گیا ۔۔۔
“تمہیں یقین نہیں آئے گا عبدلولی ملک وہ نورے مر چکی ہے جس کو تم ہستا مسکراتا خوش دیکھتے تھے ۔۔”
ولی کے قدم کچن سے جاتے روکے تھے وہ سنجیدگی سے نورے کو دیکھنے لگا جو اب اپنے آنسوں صاف کرتی واپس چائے بنانے لگ گئی تھی ۔۔۔
“اس نورے کی موت کیسے ہوئی وہ تو میں جان ہی لوں گا ،۔۔”وہ دل ہی دل میں سوچتا غصے سے پاگل ہوتا کچن سے نکل گیا ۔۔۔۔۔
نورے اس کی پشت کو دیکھ کر رہ گئی۔
