About The Novel:
English
Driving recklessly, Saim pushed his Jeep across the rough and paved village roads. The distance between the big haveli and the small haveli was usually an hour, but tearing through it in barely twenty-five minutes, Saim stepped out of the Jeep like a raging storm.
“Ehtsham Baloch, by using my sister, you have invited my wrath. Whatever Saim Baloch does now, you alone will be responsible for it,” he muttered to himself, grinding his teeth in pure fury.
With eyes blazing like fire, Saim strode into the house. The moment the servants saw him radiating such intense rage, they instantly scrambled out of his way.
Kazima, who had just returned from college, was utterly shocked to see Saim Baloch inside her home. But the second he spotted her, Saim lunged forward aggressively, grabbed her by the arm, and hauled her along with him. His breathing was heavy with uncontainable rage, scaring the absolute life out of poor Kazima. Why? What is happening?
“Shut your mouth! If a single word escapes your lips, I will cut it out!” he roared, tightening his grip fiercely around her jaw. “Whatever your brother has done, you are going to pay the price for it. Your family gave you the name Kazima with such high hopes, now get ready to endure it!”
“Because Sardar Saim Baloch is going to exact the cost of every single agony from you!” With those hateful words and a rough shove by the neck, he hurled her away, sending her crashing against the side of his Jeep.
Glaring at her trembling form with utter contempt, he shoved her brutally into the passenger seat before climbing in and slamming the Jeep into gear, speeding off into the distance.
Raiqa watched the entire terrifying spectacle unfold in horror, frozen and completely unable to utter a single word.
In the midst of the chaos, Kazima’s bag had slipped from her hand and fallen to the ground. Coming back to her senses, Raiqa snatched the bag up from the dirt and rushed inside.
“Aapa… Chacha… Aapa, Saim took Kazima away!” she screamed in panic. Hearing her frantic, disjointed words, the two elders who had been talking quietly on the charpoy leaped up in immediate distress.
“What is it, Raiqa?” Roshan asked frantically, cupping her face in alarm.
“Aapa, Saim Baloch took her!” Raiqa blurted out in a rush, bursting into tears, leaving Roshan and Shaheena Baloch completely paralyzed with shock.
Meanwhile, the state of the two figures standing nearby was far worse. Ehtsham felt as though an invisible hand had clamped around his heart, squeezing the life out of it—his sister had been abducted right out of his own home, and he had been utterly powerless to stop it.
As for Zoha, the breath caught entirely in her throat. It was because of her that Saim had taken Kazima; an innocent girl who knew nothing of this was now going to bear the brutal brunt of her brother’s merciless actions.
The Jeep sped like lightning, while inside, Kazima felt as though her soul was leaving her body. More than the breakneck speed, it was the raw, paralyzing terror of Saim Baloch that shook her to her core—he had dragged her away from her home for a crime she knew nothing about. His venomous words still echoed deafeningly in her ears. Her tears fell endlessly, refusing to stop.
When the vehicle finally screeched to a halt in front of the massive haveli, Kazima mustered the tiny shred of courage left in her to speak.
“P… please, let me go… I… I didn’t even go near your garden…” she sobbed, her voice breaking frantically between gasps.
Saim, who was stepping out of the driver’s seat, froze at her words. He whipped around, his face dark with fury. “You don’t even have the status to step foot in Saim’s garden!” he snarled, yanking her violently out of the vehicle.
Dragging her behind him, he stormed inside. The servants stared with wide, horrified eyes, watching Saim haul a young girl into the mansion. Nusrat Baloch, who had been anxiously waiting for Zoha, stood up as she saw Saim approaching—only for him to throw Kazima unceremoniously right into the middle of the courtyard.
“Ahhh!”
With a soft cry of pain, Kazima collapsed straight onto her knees from the forceful shove.
Nusrat Baloch rushed forward to lift her up, but Saim’s sharp voice stopped her dead in her tracks.
“Don’t you dare touch her, Ma! Starting today, she stays in this house as Saim Baloch’s wife!”
Saim’s words hit Kazima like a bolt of lightning. She looked up at him in sheer agony, only to meet his furious, unyielding glare.
“Saim, what are you saying?! What kind of madness is this? If you want to marry her, bring her into this house with dignity and respect!” Nusrat Baloch pleaded, trying to reason with him.
“The very person you are wasting your sympathy on, Ma—once you hear what her brother has pulled, your sympathy will vanish into thin air!” he mocked bitterly.
“What do you mean?” Nusrat Baloch asked, her eyes widening in utter bewilderment.
“I mean that her brother has married your daughter and my sister! You have seen Zoha for the last time today; after today, Zoha has no connection whatsoever with this house!”
Saim dropped the bomb, and the impact was so devastating that Nusrat Baloch staggered back and collapsed onto the sofa. Indeed, true to Saim’s words, a mother’s blinded rage had momentarily put her own humanity to sleep.
Slap!
Lunging forward with lightning speed, Nusrat Baloch delivered a stinging, furious slap right across Kazima’s delicate cheek. Already trembling under the cruelty of fate, the force of the blow made Kazima’s head spin into total darkness.
Sensing Nusrat Baloch’s volatile state, Saim struggled to suppress his surging fury as he spoke. “Ma, how dare you raise a hand on her?!” he shouted, grabbing Kazima by the arm and pulling her firmly behind his back.
“Then by what right are you holding her hand?! Who do you think you are to her?!” Nusrat Baloch screamed back in a fit of rage. It was the first time Saim had ever witnessed this side of her, but every word she uttered was a hundred percent true.
“Shams!” he yelled at the top of his lungs, summoning the man who materialized instantly like a genie from a bottle. “Arrange for a nikah khwan and witnesses immediately!”
Hearing his command, Nusrat Baloch stared at him in horrified disbelief as he stepped away from Kazima and dropped heavily onto the sofa.
Ahad, who had just stepped inside the house, froze in absolute horror upon witnessing the scene and hearing Saim’s pronouncement. He simply couldn’t believe it had come to this. He had anticipated that Saim and Isfand Baloch might reject Ehtsham, but he never, in his wildest dreams, imagined this catastrophic turn of events. Ehtsham and Zoha had found their solace in each other, but what possible fault did innocent Kazima have in all of this?
Lost in these swirling, chaotic thoughts, he watched as Shams reappeared with the religious official within five minutes. Ahad rushed up to Saim urgently. “Brother, what are you doing? This is completely wrong! She isn’t even eighteen yet, and look at the age gap between you two—how can you force this nikah?!”
Saim threw a look of pure disgust at Ahad, ignoring his plea entirely, and gestured sharply for the cleric to begin the proceedings.
“N… no, I won’t do this nikah! I want to go home, please let me go!” Kazima wept uncontrollably.
Saim sat in total silence, completely deaf to her desperate pleas.
“Kazima Baloch, daughter of Yusuf Baloch, your nikah is proposed with Saim Baloch, son of Isfand Baloch. Do you accept?”
“No! I won’t accept! I want to go to my brother, please let me go!” Kazima sobbed hysterically, tears welling up in Ahad’s eyes as well, a suffocating wall of pure helplessness closing in around them. If only Ehtsham had known his elopement would trigger such a horrific tragedy, he would have stopped right there—but it was too late to turn back now.
“Kazima, if you utter anything other than Qubool hai this time, I swear I will kill you right here!” Saim whispered in a chilling, dead-cold voice, lifting his gun and pressing it directly against her temple.
“N… no! I will never agree to this nikah! You cannot force me, I have to go home!” Kazima screamed in defiance the moment she regained her breath.
“Kazima, if anything besides Qubool hai comes out of your mouth next, you will find no one worse than me,” Saim warned her in a harsh, frozen tone, watching her stubborn defiance.
Seeing that she refused to budge, his jaw clenched tighter. “Fine. Don’t accept. You’ll live in this haveli just like this. Ma, take her to my room!”
At Saim’s words, Kazima turned ice-cold. She couldn’t believe her ears; had she really just heard him right? But looking at the ruthless man standing before her, there was no hope left. Living here without a nikah status would be a living hell—it was far better to just give in. Swallowing her bitter tears, she gave a microscopic nod, signaling her reluctant consent.
Watching her finally break under pressure, Saim flashed a cruel, burning smile as she kept her eyes glued to the floor. And just like that, Kazima Yusuf transformed into Kazima Saim Baloch.
Saim, too, flatly muttered a single, emotionless “Qubool hai.” He hadn’t originally planned to tie the knot, but driven by some dark impulse, he had taken the plunge.
Nusrat Baloch sat utterly numb, her mind refusing to process the wreckage around her. Every single familial bridge between their house and the other had been burned down because of the girl’s brother—and now, her own son had bound that very brother’s sister to this house as a daughter-in-law.
A deep, suffocating wave of hatred consumed her toward Kazima. And for Kazima, a profound, burning hatred took root in her heart for the very first time in her life—directed entirely at Zoha Baloch, the girl who had utterly destroyed her world.
